DOMESTIC PROPERTIES

In addition to larger scale projects, Thomson & Simpson Architects also have an enviable reputation for providing design and
advice to Clients re-modelling, extending or erecting their own homes. Examples of our work include the conversion of farm
steadings, attic conversions and nurseries. We can also advise on energy conservation.
For many Clients, this will be their first introduction to the maze of regulations, statutory requirements and contract
management, and Thomson & Simpson Architects provide assistance and guidance though each step of the design and
construction phases.
We have experience in the construction methods and detailing required when dealing with listed buildings, conservation areas
and buildings of historical significance, and can assist clients with the upgrading and maintenance of these properties,
employing traditional materials inside and out where appropriate.
Offering a free initial consultation to customers throughout East Central Scotland, we can also advise you on obtaining planning
permission and building grants. Please contact us for more information.

Thomson & Simpson Architects extended this house on two levels
creating a luxurious bathroom and expansive bedroom area with balcony
access, taking advantage of the woodland views previously obscured
from within the dwelling.

The re-modelling of a poor quality
1970s extension to an existing
Victorian villa provides light and
spacious kitchen/dining facilities.

A two storey extension plus re-modelling of this villa in Central Edinburgh
has provided both a family home and a commercial nursery for our Clients,
enabling them to create a family business from their own home.
